Mission Statement:
To design, implement and evaluate new therapies for improving
the clinical outcome of the patient with epilepsy
A non-profit academic research based organization dedicated to evaluating new seizure therapies
In December of 1998, the International Epilepsy Consortium (IEC) was founded as an independent forum for clinical research investigators to apply their expertise and patient populations to the uniform study of new therapies for epilepsy.
The formation of the IEC allows investigators to pool core data in a centralized databank, creating an extremely valuable and unique tool for scientific research and future trial modeling. Each investigator will have access to their data on an ongoing basis via a secured Internet site. This databank will be coordinated and maintained by the IEC Technical Center.
The IEC also provides an avenue for investigators and sponsors to exchange their expertise on the design, development, implementation, execution and analysis of phase I through IV clinical trials, basic science and applied academic research.
The American Epilepsy Society (AES)
has endorsed and partnered in the development of the IEC.
The IEC is a non-profit, academic, research-based organization that will implement its mission through:
